Have your say… on the first round

Agip water front 2 girls 14th

I’d like to try an experiment. We’re pretty pleased with how the audio blogging has gone in Rivers State so far.

But we want to hear from other parts of the country, from Nigerians abroad, and from people everywhere who are concerned about these elections…

I’ve installed something called the Evoca plugin for WordPress (the blogging software we use for the site.)

If your computer has a microphone, you can click here and leave a message.

In 36 hours from now (after 5 pm on Wednesday) I’ll check into the Evoca account, select from any messages and edit them together for an audio feed.

I expect we’ll all feel a little goofy at first talking into a microphone to no one, but I am so impressed by the audio that election monitors have been sending up, I really want to give this a try. We just need to break the ice.

If you don’t have a microphone you can comment back on this post.

The opposition are crying foul and the situation is tense, but according to the PDP and INEC things are mostly going according to plan.

Was the outcome of yesterday’s first round predictable?

What should happen next?

How do you think this first result is going to affect Nigeria?

Let’s hear what you think…

Please tell us your name and where you are based at the start of the message…

The general picture across the country seems to be one of confusion for voters, low turn outs in some areas, and the opposition calling foul.

21 are offically reported killed in the Niger Delta but local estimates are higher at around 40, including 7 police officers killed overnight in Port Harcourt on the 13th. There are around 10 other deaths reported throughout the country as of writing.

INEC in Port Harcourt, Rivers State reported a 90.09% result for the governing PDP with an 85% turn out.
