When the independent national electoral commission (INEC) independent only in nomenclature began, it’s preparation for the 2007 or rather 007 elections, which could be liken to one of the most notorious western movies James Bond 007, a lot of Nigerians were highly pessimistic about it’s readiness and ability to be unbias as the umpire of the elections. Prof. Maurice Iwu, the electoral commission’s chief Christianed Nigerians cynics, as he was fighting, the fight of his life to exorcise that spirit of unbelief and to assure Nigerians that this election, will be the most peaceful, free, fair and credible election in our country.

But from what we saw on Saturday 14th of April, 2007, it was just another April fool joke and another macabre dance on the grave of Nigeria. This election did not astonish the writer for James Hardley chase will tell you that “you had it coming” it has gone down in the annals of world history as the most debased and most fraudulent election ever known or heard of, what could be worse than what we saw last Saturday?

Please do Oblige me, to spare you the traumatic details, from North to South, and from East to West, the political topsy-turvy was homogenous. Some characters, under the auspices of international observers and watchdogs of democracy have only come to Nigeria to aid the government and ruling party to orchestrate and hatch their obnoxious and heinous scheme against the Nigerian people. This is not to say that we don’t have a credible few, that have not elected themselves to be making unsolicited comments on the Nigerian television authority (NTA) another appendage of the party in power. Nigerians are too passive, always waiting for manna to fall from heaven, so that they can ‘chop’’ remember what the late Afolabi (Chief) told the late chief law officer of Nigeria, Chief Bola Ige (SAN) of blessed memory who was murdered in cold blood in the innermost chamber of his home, that he was called to “come and chop’’ when will these see don look” and chop, chop syndrome stop? Sincerely this is another eight years of the past eight, if we don’t do something now,

I would suggest, we shut our mouths and brains and enjoy the coming sails of no light, no pipe borne water ,no roads, no housing for the poor and low income people, no security for persons, property and business, drought and monstrous increase in prices of petroleum product and increased unemployment and scarcity of stable food.

I personally hail and congratulate prof. Iwu and his team for designing, implementing and conducting this grand obsequies called Do-or Die election. What shall it profit my countrymen to keep mute in the face of this magnitude of rigging and counter-rigging? Our docility is at our peril, till you respond.
