Thanks for the Hat Tip Tim re: my first post on the Nigerian state and presidential elections. Don’t miss my follow-up published yesterday highlighting the recently released report on Nigeria by the Council on Foreign Relations. Good luck with your new project blog as I am sure that it will be a big help for the people of Nigeria and those of us interested in what happens in the country.
Are you sure about that “truck bomb outside INEC HQ” report? I just saw CNN’s new correspondent/anchor Sese Ishay (or whatever her name is) interview the chairman of the INEC and he didn’t look to shaken up to me. Jeff Koinange was nowhere to be seen in the election coverage today. Where’s Jeff?
Pleasure Bill. I’m watching footage from Al Jazeera English earlier today, Mike Hanna filing from Abuja. He’s interviewing Laurence Alobi, Abuja Police Commissioner who is cool about the incident, but it appears it was a real truck bomb.
Haven’t had a chance to check out CNN’s coverage but some of it’s Tivo’ed… the coverage from international TV media here in the UK has been overwhelming, I can’t keep up and Al Jazeera is running the elections continuously.
It’s such a change from the experience of 2004, I cannot begin to express it. Independent journalists and election monitors come out of this the real heroes. At least this time we can see the truth, in detail.
